The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has stated that we must remove more than 10 gigatons of CO2 per year for the next 50 years even if we completely decarbonize the economy. Basic Dust will meet this need by applying the concept of rock weathering (adding finely pulverized alkaline rock powder to water and land) to mineralize carbon dioxide into bicarbonates and permanently remove it from the atmosphere.
